John S. Baker, a resident of Berryville, AR, was born February 8, 1923 in Eureka Springs, AR, a son of Berl Baker and Leona (Roberts) Baker. He departed this life Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at the age of 86.
Mr. Baker served in the United States Army during World War II and with the Coast Artillery & Field Artillery from 1942-1946.
He attended the Eureka Springs Baptist Church and was also a plumber.
John is survived by one daughter, Linda Pickering of California; one step-son, Billy Armstrong; one sister, Mattie Glocksien of Berryville, AR; one brother, Glen Baker of California; three granddaughters, one grandson, seven great-grandchildren, one step-granddaughter and one step-great grand daughter and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Juanita and Nola and Fiancé Savannah Parkhill; three brothers, Berl Lee Baker, Wesley Baker and Ernie Baker; three sisters, Agnes McDannald, Mable Erdall, and Minnie Phillips.
Visitation will be Thursday Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville with Brother James Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at the Moreland Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service, Inc.
